Wood pellets - sustainable, low carbon energy

Approximately 6mm to 8mm in length, wood pellets are produced from pure compressed sawdust from quality timber, without the use of synthetic additives.

Economical and controllable

Pellets are smooth and uniform in size and can be easily drip fed into thermostatically controlled wood pellet boilers. This means that just the right amount of fuel is used to maintain the required temperature, thus avoiding waste and improving energy efficiency.

Concentrated energy - for easy storage

As pellets are a compressed wood fuel, they require less storage and transport capacity than other bulkier forms of wood fuel such as wood chip and logs.

Clean and efficient

Wood pellets have a much lower moisture content than either logs or wood chip, resulting in a clean, efficient burn. Wood pellets contain less than 10% moisture while good quality wood chip contains around 30%. Pellets are made from pure timber without any chemical additives. They produce almost no ash, around 0.5% by volume.

Pellet and delivery service prices

PureGlo wood pellets are supplied in 10kg bags. They are available for collection from our depot by the bag for £1.85 per bag. Our current price per tonne for bagged wood pellets is £185.

PureGlo deliver bagged pellets by the tonne within a 30 mile radius of our depot in Helmsley. We require 7 working days to arrange delivery. However we can arrange deliveries of up to 2 tonnes by van at shorter notice if necessary.

The price for delivery is £50 per 1 tonne pallet. This includes the unloading of the bags and stacking them in your store.

The delivery price does not include emptying of bags into your pellet hopper. This is time consuming and increases delivery costs. If you would like us to empty the bags we are happy to provide a quotation. Please call us on 01439 772 795.

If you have a forklift on site and would like us to deliver the pallets shrink wrapped without unloading, we will be happy to do so at a reduced delivery cost. Please call for a quotation.

Security of supply

The supply of quality wood pellets is increasing as more plants are being created in the UK. Our wood pellets are currently sourced from the UK's largest plant in Enniskillen. A second plant is currently under construction at Invergordon in Scotland. The new plant will have an output of 100,000 tonnes per annum.

PureGlo has links with a proposed new local wood pellet production plant near Wombleton, 5 miles from our base in Helmsley, being developed by Land Energy Ltd. If it goes ahead the Wombleton Plant is expected to produce 25,000 tonnes of pellets per annum using timber grown in North Yorkshire.
